From the waterfront to the hiking trails, each member or our Elective Staff possesses an expertise and passion in the area they lead, not to mention proper certification. Most of our Elective Staff come to us with at least 2 years of teaching experience in their field. They are all proven leaders and enthusiastic about bringing their skills to the Academy. This dynamic team is led by our Program Director, who oversees all aspects of the elective program and the evening activities. The electives offered in each session may vary.

Our Waterfront Director manages a team of Lifeguards, as well as a Canoeing Instructor and a Fishing Instructor. They work together to ensure that our beautiful private lakefront is a safe and fun place. All waterfront staff are certified by the Red Cross so that as a camp, we meet American Camp Association accreditation standards.

BSA athletes have the opportunity to improve their flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination with our Yoga Instructor and our Strength & Conditioning Coach. They can practice preparing healthy dishes with our Cooking Instructor, or perfect their soccer juggling and fancy-footwork with a Juggling Coach.
Campers who are ready to embrace all the Berkshires have to offer, can join our Outdoor Adventure Instructor on a leisurely walk around the lake, or to the nearby waterfall. Along the way, the focus may be to practice orienteering, learn about native flora and fauna, or build a campfire.
After coming off the soccer field, our athletes typically need a break to relax and reboot. For some, that means following the Camp Games Instructor to the Rec Deck to make friendship bracelets or lanyards. Or perhaps, it means challenging their friends to a game of soccer-tennis; or to shoot hoops or play H.O.R.S.E. on our basketball court.

Our creative elective programs are some of our most popular. Our Arts & Crafts Instructor offers a different project each period; our Dance Instructor choreographs routines with the campers’ help to all styles of music; and the Theater Instructor challenges her campers with fun theater games, improv scenarios, and comedy routines.
