Our Elective Staff provide fun and relaxing downtime periods that allow our athletes to explore new activities, replenish their energy, and just be kids!
Each member or our Elective Staff possesses an expertise and passion in the area they lead. Most of our Elective Staff come to us with at least 2 years of teaching experience in their field and all have required certifications. They are proven leaders and enthusiastic about bringing their skills to the Academy. Electives offered in each session may vary but typically include the following:
Waterfront
Our Waterfront Director manages a team of Lifeguards, as well as Canoeing, Fishing, Stand Up Paddleboarding and Funyak Instructors. The Waterfront Staff work together to ensure that our beautiful private lakefront is a safe and fun place. All waterfront staff are certified by the Red Cross so that as a camp, we meet American Camp Association accreditation standards.
Fitness & Wellness
BSA athletes have the opportunity to improve their flexibility, strength, balance, and coordination with our Yoga Instructor. They can also practice preparing healthy dishes with our Cooking Instructor, or perfect their soccer juggling and fancy-footwork with our Soccer Elective Specialist.
Camp Games
After coming off the soccer field, many of our athletes want to relax and reboot. For some, that means following the Camp Games Instructor to the Rec Deck or the Chill Zone to play ping-pong, four-square, Gaga, Connect4 or 9 Square.
Outdoor Adventure & Archery
Campers who are ready to embrace all the Berkshires have to offer can join our Outdoor Adventure Instructor on a leisurely hike around the lake or to the nearby waterfall. They can also learn to build a campfire with a flint and steel and then roast marshmallows over that fire. Our Archery instructor is certified and leads up to twelve campers each period.
Arts & Crafts
Our Arts & Crafts Instructors offer different projects each period, along with materials for friendship bracelets, lanyard, and loom.
